Lateral Link Sues Former Recruiters Over Client Data
The legal recruiting boutique Lateral Link has sued
two of its former recruiters, accusing them of stealing client data to start a
rival agency.
In a federal complaint filed last week in Los Angeles,
Lateral Link claims that Chicago recruiters Ryan Turley and Austin Wilson made
unauthorized copies of the recruiting agency’s clients’ contact information,
resumes, client lists and law school transcripts.
Turley and Wilson, who met while working as corporate
lawyers at Sidley Austin, began working at Lateral Link in 2013 and resigned in
January, according to court papers. The company alleges that before leaving
they sent themselves copies of “confidential and proprietary information and trade
secrets” in order “to further their new legal recruiting venture.”
