Investigator Accuses DA's Office of Age Bias

SAN FRANCISCO — A 60-year-old investigator who worked for the San Francisco district attorney’s office is suing her former employer for age discrimination, claiming she was fired “to make way for a younger, more inexpensive workforce.”
Natividad Ramirez, who held her position with the DA’s office for nearly 30 years, was fired in August 2014 after being accused of spending too much time on non-work activities. Ramirez says she often took workday lunches at Don Ramon’s, a Mexican restaurant she co-owns in San Francisco’s South of Market district, but she never allowed her obligations there to interfere with her duties to the city.
And, her lawyer wrote, “at all times plaintiff was employed at the district attorney’s office, defendants were aware of plaintiff’s regular lunch routine.”
